Research Applications
- DSIP (delta sleep-inducing peptide) is an endogenous nonapeptide first isolated from cerebral venous blood, studied for its role in promoting delta (slow-wave) sleep.
- Research applications include evaluating its effects on sleep architecture, EEG slow-wave activity, and circadian regulation in rodent sleep models.
- DSIP is also investigated for stress-modulatory effects, including attenuation of stress-induced hormonal and behavioral responses.
- Used in neuroendocrine studies exploring peptide-mediated regulation of sleep–wake cycles and the interplay between sleep and the hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal axis.
