Research Applications
- IGF-1 LR3 is a long-acting analog of insulin-like growth factor-1 engineered with an N-terminal arginine substitution and a 13-residue extension that greatly reduces binding to IGF-binding proteins (IGFBPs).
- Its reduced IGFBP sequestration markedly prolongs half-life (approximately 20–30 h) and increases bioavailability in culture and in vivo studies.
- Used as a potent activator of IGF-1 receptor signaling (PI3K/Akt and MAPK pathways) to study anabolic responses and cell proliferation in vitro.
- Research applications include muscle hypertrophy models and differentiation studies where sustained IGF-1 receptor stimulation is required.
